Weekend

The past two days have brought awesome riding weather. This morning was especially awesome, for some intangible reason… and, to be honest, I’m kinda happy that I can’t put words to it. I can say, however, that I enjoy riding with others instead of solo.

The nice weather, along with it being Bike to Work Month, has encouraged riders of all types and abilities to get out and roll. This morning, I counted at least a dozen on the trail, not including the five that made up our caravan. I honestly can’t think of a better way to start the morning than to roll at an easy pace with a group of friends, shooting the shit (and dodging the horse shit).

The ride home was equally pleasant, though I was saddened to hear of a colleague’s harrassment at the hands of an angry driver who buzzed her before intentionally cutting her off, almost causing a potentially fatal crash. I’m thinking I might adopt Swervy’s habit of memorizing plates. I also heard what could be one of the funniest excuses to not ride ever, supposedly given by one colleague earlier this morning: that if they rode two days in a row, they wouldn’t be able to be with their partner tomorrow. I didn’t hear it with my own ears, so who knows… Even still, it was a good laugh. If true, they might be due for a more comfortable saddle.

Thinking I might soak in a hottub tonight and enjoy some of the fine brew that is known as Brother Thelonius from North Coast Brewery (who also make the tasty Pranqster).
