April Roundup

Numbers for April:

  • Miles ridden: 500
  • Miles driven: 543 (134,169)

To be fair, I only drove about 290 of those miles, as I lent out my car to friends and family, who put about 250 miles onto the car… however, my thinking is that if the car is driven, it’s driven, no matter who’s behind the wheel. I am amused, though, that my bike mileage came out to an even 500.

First day/round-trip of the month went well… After a conversation with G, pacing myself will be my top goal… lest I want to start riding by myself. Sometimes some cold, hard truth is a nice wakeup call.

Riding this morning, while chilly, was completely gorgeous. Getting buzzed by the jackass in the 80’s conversion van while riding along an otherwise-empty four-lane road was lame… but riding was so much more glorious that I almost forgot about it. At work, there were a ton of bikes around… made me smile to see so many people riding in to work. It also appears that the city is constructing a sidewalk that will run from the trail to the main intersection near campus, which means more people will likely be inclined to ride since they won’t have to “shoot the rapids” along the quarter-mile of seriously-sketchy road to get to/from the trail.

Feeling impressively exhausted at the moment… however, I can’t help but smile at the thought that I’ll be able to catch the China v. Mexico friendly in person at the end of the month, as well as get in on the season tickets to the new MLS expansion team.
